Take Notice! The Newport Historical Society present a re-enactment of The 1765 Newport Stamp Act Protest. This living history eent present a glimpse of the life in colonial Newport, with ordinary citizens, sailors, fine ladies and gentlemen, who gathered on the eve of the American Revolution.
Followed Immediately by: A Stamp Act Party 5-7pm at The Colony House
The rabble rouses who initiated Newport's 1765 Stamp Act Protest, one of the first events that sparked the American Revolution, recruited participants by promising them 'strong drink and Cheshire cheese.' Following the Protest Reenactment, join the team of costumed interpreters for a Stamp Act party at the Colony House in the spirit of the 18th century.
